Hi all,

I have run into a bit of an issue that requires me to manually install components on my IaaS node.. however it eventually gets to the point of asking for the vRA db passphrase.  The LCM form never asks to input this and I have tried the passwords used during the deployment and none of which work.

I am hoping there is a way to retrieve this passphrase (that was mysteriously set) or else i foresee a complete teardown and rebuild.  If this is the case, I can see this irritating a lot of customers!

Failed to install converter agent on windows 2012r2, error 1603.  If try to run:

VMware-converter-a.exe <ip addr> <ip addr>

from the command line on this 2012r2 server get this error:

signature wrong or missing!

Also cannot install the Standalone Converter v6.2.0.1 on this 2012R2 server - error is service failed to start.

Tried editing registry and extending timeout to 30000 and 60000 per documents I found online, no help.

Messed with secpol and group policy, but also no help.

Anybody see this and fix it?

I have created a new ESG for load balancing and my two web server VMs are under Virtual switch LB with ip of 192.168.30.11 and 192.168.30.12. My logical router has two interfaces with one is external 172.16.2.231 and one for Virtual Switch LB(192.168.30.1/24). My ESG has two interfaces one is External/Transit 172.16.2.236 and one for Virtual Switch LB (192.168.30.1). I have added both the virtual machines .11 and .12 in load balancer   and my Load balanver VIP is 172.16.2.236. When i open the browser from my external network 172.16.2.20/24 and access the web server address 172.16.2.236. following error comes

503 Service Unavailable

No server is available to handle this request.

Please help me to solve this issue.

My external network is 172.16.0.0/24

My Virtual Switch network is 192.168.30.0/24

I have not added any route to access the virtual switch network from external network.

Hi all,

I'm really hoping someone can shed some light on my issue as struggling with online searches. I'm fairly new to VMWare and ESXi so this is a bit of a struggle for me. I've taken on IT support for a friends company who currently use Veeam to backup 2 VM's hosted on ESXi. Both of the backups fail with the below error message:

Processing SERVERNNAME Error: Access is denied. Failed to process [isFileExists].

So I tried installing Altaro instead, however, now one VM backs up fine but the other one throws up this error: 

Failed to read from the disk. Error Code: 13 – You do not have access rights to this file (ALTERR_VMWAREBACKUPSTREAM_010)

Its strange how its just the one VM failing to backup with the access denied error on Altaro but both on Veeam.

Any help at all is greatly appreciated. Many thanks.

During migration prerequsites check phase I have error "Unable to enumerate and validate the root certificates from the TRUSTED_ROOTS VECS store. Make sure that the vmafd service is reachable and started before continuing."

I have check cert store on new VCSA installation by:

service-control --status certificatemanagement

The service is running

Then I check cert store by "vecs-cli store list" and get "Unable to connect to vmafd service"

Then I check syslog and found

Error opening Certificate /etc/vmware/vmware-vmafd/machine-ssl.crt

Hi, I am using model driven approach for vRO. I am facing issue in giving multiple icon to one model . I want to use two different icons(to be displayed under inventory tab) for single model wrapped in mapping file. So that this single wrapping can be used for different relaters. Eg : car model will be wrapped to some finder and then we can give it icon using withIcon() method as wrap(car.class).andFind().using(carFinder.class).withIcon("car.png"). But if we want to relate this with relater then we will relate as relate(carSedanFolder.class).to(car.class).using(carSedanFolderHasSedanCar.class) and for other  relate(carHatchBackFolder.class).to(car.class).using(carHatchBackFolderHasHatchBackCar.class).This works fine but if we want to give separate icons for hatchback and sedan car then how to do that? Since it gives error to wrap same class two times. Please suggest.

This is on 7.5. When submitting a form with required fields, if one is left blank then the submit button is disabled. It does not appear that there's a way to undisable it unless you cancel the request and start over. Happens in all browsers for me, there's an opaque undefined error in the console that may or may not be related.

Apologize for the simple question, I've attempted to do the research manually but I am missing a clear designation on one point of confusion.

If I want to create a custom action to be used as a set of external values within an XaaS form drop down menu, I should create my action type as "array/string". However, if I predefined my XaaS drop down, I can supply a key/value hash. Can I return a key/value hash from an action such that I can control visible name and returned value per entry?

As a follow up, Is there any specific document or place which lists acceptable values types per element used?  Sort of like how the EBS gives me a nice overview of schema.

Hi,

When the converted machine starts for the first time SELinux relabels the filesystems if it was in use in the source machine. Relabeling may overwrite some labels especially if admins have used chcon for impermanent labeling.

Before starting the conversion it is possible to record which labels will be overwritten by doing a restorecon dry-run e.g. as follows:

     # find / -maxdepth 1 -type d | egrep -v '^/(dev|proc|sys|tmp|run|boot|)$' | restorecon -R -n -v -f- | gzip > fs.chcon.gz

It is now possible to refer to file fs.chcon.gz in the converted machine when instructing the admins to re-apply their past chcon changes or better yet, to re-implement them permanently with semanage.

An attempt to run VMware Player 12.x on Linux Mint 18.3 said that something needed to be present in the kernel, and made an option to install it. However, it errored out, saying to check for further details in the log.

I've attached the log file; it attempts a make and reports failure.

     After upgrading to ESXi 6.7 form 6.5, I keep getting this error from my host with a purple screen.

     PANIC bora/vmkernel/main/dlmalloc.c: 4924 - Usage error in dlmalloc

     I reinstalled a few times and still getting the same problem.  Did anyone have the same happening to your hosts?

We have a powercli script that runs everyday and delete snapshots older than x days:

We are aware that this script will delete all snapshots at once and therefore will put some pressure on our storage (i/o, latency etc.)

We have a full flash storage array (Pure Storage FA-m20r2) and it seems to hold on well.

Last Sunday the script ran and deleted 53 snapshots at once.

Some VMs got 2 snapshots deleted at once and I noticed that these VMs had their thin-provisioned VMDKs inflated to the maximum size after snapshots were deleted but still remained in thin provision and size didn't shrink.

Prior to the snapshot deletion job, VMDKs were matching the true size in Windows.

After the snapshot deletion job, VMDKs inscreased to maximum size.

VM properties:

Guest OS: Microsoft Windows Server 2012 (64-bit)

Compatibility: ESXi 6.5 and later (VM version 13)

Why thin provisioned disks inflated after last snapshot deletion with powercli script above?

in my inventory scripts and in what RV tools outputs I get the OS version that is selected for the VM in edit settings - options - version.  I would like to also output a list of the OS version that VMware tools is reporting so I can find the ones with wrong OS selected and fix them.  I have tried .extensiondata.config.tools  and I dont see the OS listed there, does anyone know where it is listed?

I'm trying to setup a vmware-vvol datastore with Hpe 3PARs. All works properly if i don't setup replication, but as soon as i configure replication, moving or creating Volumes in these VVol datastore are impossible
