Mam zasilacz UPS POWERCOM i chciałbym aby w przypadku braku prądu zamykał się VMWare i wyłączał serwer.
W przypadku Hyper-V było to proste ponieważ Hyper-V działa w środowisku Windows i jest dostępne odpowiednie oprogramowanie firmy POWERCOM które w przypadku braku prądu zamykało Windows.
Jak to zrealizować w przypadku VMWare?

Mam maszynę wirtualną na bazie systemu Windows, czy wystarczy użyć opcji "zmniejsz wolumin" w Zarządzaniu dyskami?

I've a HP DL380G5 with a SmartArray P400i raidcontroller. We've added 2 extra disks to the disk-group in RAID5. After the addition we extended the logical so that we extended the storage with around 200GB. The whole installation is done on this logical drive. (meaning we have 1 logical drive).
When we try to add an extend to our current vmfs-volume (268Gb), the extra free space will not show in the "Add Extent" window. When I take a look in the properties of the current vmfs-volume, I see that the vmhba1:0:0 device has 478 Gb of space. This means the server notices that we extended the logical drive.
When I take a peek at the hostd.log I notice the following entries:

There are many reasons why this might be the case. However, the most likely reason is that Linux detected the BIOS geometry for /dev/disks/vmhba1:0:0:0 incorrectly. GNU Parted suspects the real geometry should be 489820/64/32 (not 62443/255/63). You should check with your BIOS first, as this may not be correct. You can inform Linux by adding the parameter disks/vmhba1:0:0:0=489820,64,32 to the command line. See the LILO or GRUB documentation for more information. If you think Parted's suggested geometry is correct, you may select Ignore to continue (and fix Linux later). Otherwise, select Cancel (and fix Linux and/or the BIOS now). Geometry Known: 0

So i would like to setup my VMS with active dictory, my host allreday has all this setup and when i went to set it up on the vms
i got the error off can not get DNS Qureys or something when i tryed to connect the vms to the AD
how my vms are set up are that they are in BRIGED connect, this meains they can connect stright to the routor ( bascily so i can port forward them/ they easiyer to work with at a network level when the actaillity vm is on the routor anywhere )
so i cant set up active Dictory on the vms
Anyone know how to fix please?

We have 3 ESXi Servers and 3 Synology storages , we also have a VCenter Server that we can manage all of them.
The VCenter Server has also VMWare Update Manager in order to update our ESXi.
We just wanted to know the steps needed and the best practices in order to update succesfully with correct order the ESXi , VCenter Server and the Synology (we do not want Synology documentation).

I understand the different redundancy options available for hitting Security Servers. That being said, does anyone have any suggestions for providing redundancy from the Security Server to the Connection Server. Any solution I put in place to provide redundancy to the Security Servers will fail if that Security Server's paired Connection Server is down.

A strange thing happened to me today:
I restarted my ESXi 5.1 server just to find (vSphere Client: Configuration->Storage->Datastores) that one of local datastores is lost. It is a single disk on sata/ahci controller which worked without any problem up to now.
First I tried "Rescan for Datastore" (vSphere Client). Datastore appeared for short time, but with strange properties (931GB, but formated capacity only 464GB). Moreover, when I opened datastore-browser, it was totally empty! I used this one only for local backups so it is not a big loss for me, but anyway. Very strange. Then I clicked on "properties" and tried "refresh", and it dissapeared again. "Rescan for Datastores" did not bring it back this time...
Then I went to ESXi-shell using ssh-client. After logging in I tried "df" but all I got is:

Apparently there is somethig wrong with "507c45d1-578e7fa1-966e-001e67648fd4" to which the link /vmfs/volumes/backup points.
I restarted server again and went to bios this time. That disk is visible, full capacity recognised, and does not report any problems. Booted to esxi, and again the same thing: this local datastore is "invisible". I selected "Rescan" again, and this datastore appeared. This time with capacity 148GB (?), Used 1645140 (no unit), and Free "-1,808,850" (do not know what this means). Refreshed storage, and it dissapeared again.
And whenever it dissapeares, I could add it again with "Add Storage...", because it appeares in the Disk/LUN list, with full and correct capacity 931GB, but no VMFS label (so apparently I'd have to reformat it).
What could all this mean? Is the disk simply dying? BTW it is quite new (bought just 2 months ago).

Hi, I/O Analyzer appliance is not able to add an ESXi 6.5 RC build based host. ESXi 6.5 Beta3 build gets added to the UI.
Do you use ssh connection protocol to connect a host from I/O analyzer ? /etc/ssh/sshd_config contain 'passwordAuthentication yes' and permitRootLogin yes'. Are there any changes to 6.5 RC build in terms of authentication comparing the older builds ?

Due to VMware dropping the Enterprise the edition of ESXi, we have purchased enough licenses to take all of our ESXi servers from Enterprise to Enterprise Plus.
My question to you, my VMware friends; how do I upgrade/convert/update these hosts? Is it as simple as changing the license key(s)?
I think it might be, but I thought I'd throw it out there for confirmation.

One basic question. Can we manage vCenter 5.5 and 6.0 in the same vSphere Web Client?
I have a vCenter/vSphere 5.5 environment and are getting more new hosts. The old vCenter is on Windows 2008 and we want to migrate to Windows 2012. So we are building a new 6.0 vCenter environment. In the new hosts, we will install the vSphere 6.0. Once the new environment is in place, we will start to migrate the VMs from 5.5 to 6.0. The management wants to be able to manage both 5.5 and 6.0 in the same web client during the transition period. So I have been testing to find a way to do that.
The test I have done is to use the Linked mode on the two vCenter servers with the following steps.
Setup a new server and install 5.5 SSO
Re-pointed the vCenter 5.5 to the new SSO server
Upgrade the 5.5 SSO to 6.0 PSC
Install vCenter 6.0 and point to the PSC server.
So now I have both vCenter servers using the same PSC server. I can verify both vCenter are using the same SSO server from the web client > Administration > Single Sign-on > Configuration. If I got this right, I should see both vCenter servers in the same web client. But that is not the case. I still only see that vCenter server when I log in with the vCenter server URL. That makes sense. But when I log into the PSC server address, I only see the 5.5 vCenter server in the list, not both.
Am I missing some steps? Any suggestion is great.

Does this mean that when a user with a Chromebook connects to a Windows desktop and plugs a flash drive into the Chromebook, this flash drive will be available in the Windows session?
Fusion 8 won't start Windows 10, giving the above message. I deleted two .lck items and one .nvram item, and in the .vmx file there is already checkpoint.vmState="". Still, trying to start Windows gives the same error message. I don't get anything more from the discussion posts on this error message.
Prior to 4.1 support for local drive access / redirection for chromebooks was explicitly excluded .
However the chromebook specific doco for the newly released 4.1 has a section on how to implement / utilise drive / folder redirection. Which infers it is now supported.
However when I try , it all sets up as per the doco , no errors etc , however the drive share doesn't show in the VDI view eg the drive is unselectable thus no content can be read.
I was abit worried when I saw the mention of \\tsclient , given a older terminal server type method.
The intent was to have access to a USB memory stick from within the VDI , when accessed via Horizon 4.1 running on Chromebook (chromeOS).
The USB is seen and supported when accessed directly within ChromeOS , and is vsibile for selection in the Horizon App , just not within VDI.
Is this meant to work ?

I am trying to script reverting to the current (parent) snapshot.
Looks like the revertToSnapshot option REQUIRES a snapshot be named. Since I am writing this script to work with hundreds of different VMs (whose snapshot names are not standard), I want the script to simply revert to the current parent. I can use listSnapshots to see what the snapshot names are, but can not tell which is the current parent.
Anyone figured this out?

Hello, i am trying to use a script to prepare esxi 5.5 / 6.0 hosts in vcd without storing the password in the script. I found and have tested this http://blogs.vmware.com/PowerCLI/2012/04 from alanrenouf but storing the password is a problem and i had issues getting it to pop up a prompt for the credentials. is there a different way to do this and then disable the host afterwards in powerCLI?
I found this to disable a vcd host: Automating vCloud: "Disable Host" and "Redeploy All VMs" , again, not sure if there is other ways.

We're currently using the latest server/client side (4.1.0 Build 3976982) binaries but are seeing a big discrepancy between how the Linux-based client-side horizon agent works as compared to Windows.
An example:
Is this a known limitation for the Linux agent or is it possible to get multiple, independent, published applications running via the Linux agent across multiple monitors?

My infraestructure is as follow:
1 VCSA (inside on one of my hosts)
3 host (Blade HS22, HS22 and HS23)
27 virtual machines (9 per host)
*We could mantain my 27 VMs in 2 host.
*I have Enterprice Licencing
*I have enablee EVC Intel Nehalem
*I have enabled DRS and HA
What is the recommendation to perform the upgrade?
