Greetings,
I have WorkStation 8 running on CentOS 6.3. Want to change "Additional Memory" settings to
"Fit all virtual machine memory into reserved host RAM".
Note that I don't have root priviledge on my Linux host and have to get the admin to launch Workstation as root to attempt this config change.
I clicked "Edit" -> "Preferences" and then the Memory tab and selected the "Fit all ..." option. But when I closed the window and came back to the same place to check the setting, the memory option reverted back to "Allow some ... to be swapped".
According to VMware knowledge db, the change can be made in a config.ini file but I can't find this file in /etc/vmware nor /usr/lib/vmware.
A post in this forum mentioned that path of config.ini can be found in vmware.log. No config.ini mentioned in my vmware log either.
It has a line saying "PREF Optional preferences file not found at /usr/lib/vmware/settings". Perhaps I am missing a settings directory?
Can someone please provide direction how I can make this change? Our admin is not the nicest person so don't want to bug him again until I have some confidence the change will stick this time.
Thanks for help,
si
