Intermittent Guest OS issues

Hi,

We currently have an ESXi 5.0 server with update 623860.

On this server we have multiple CentOS 6.3 VMs

These VMs are used to host web sites

At the moment we are seeing intermittent issues with some of these sites, we are trying to determine if this is a ESXi or OS issue

ESXi

ProLiant DL380 G7

2x Intel Xeon E5649 2.53GHz

76GB RAM

Broadcom NetXtreme II BCM5709  1000base-t

800GB Localstorage (VMs are on this at the moment as we do not have a NAS)

OS

CentOS 6.3

1vCPU

1GB RAM

1 to 3 NICs depending on requirement

We see three to four sites regularly go down

1 has 3 NICs

1 has 2 NICs

2 have 1 NIC

We look at the performance graphs for each VM when the issues occur and we usually see drops in CPU and Network, while disk and memory usually remaing the same throughout

We have not seen anything on the firewall to show any issues there, if we did we would expect more than the above sites to go down

The sites go down for a variation of time, and usually it is late evening/early morning

We have done some research and found that some NICs drop with certain interace cards, but we would like some advice on how to determine the cause, whether it is OS or ESXi
