Q. Does anyone else experience the issue described below? Does anyone have a solution to this issue?
Hardware
- Apple Macbook Pro (Retina), mid 2015
- Intel Iris video
- 15" laptop screen
- External monitor: Dell P2715Q UHD 4K
Software
- VMware Fusion Professional v8.1.0
- Host: Mac OS X v10.11.6 (El Capitan)
- Guest: Windows 7 Ultimate
Problem: The external monitor is set to non-mirrored, "Use full resolution for Retina display" is checked in VMware "Display" settings. Everything works as expected when the DPI scaling is set to any of the three defaults (100%, 125%, or 150%). The mouse can be free moved back and forth between the laptop display and the external monitor and I'm able to interact with the guest operating system (full screen mode) without first needing to click in that window.
Things go bad when I choose a custom DPI setting (200% is the only one I've tested). The mouse now behaves like it before installing VMware Tools. I must first click in the guest window before I'm able to interact with Windows and unless I alt-tab or use the designated shortcut first, I'm not able to move the mouse outside of the guest OS which is located on.
I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling VMware Tools as well as all combinations of the VMware Display settings regarding automatically adjusting the user interface size in the virtual machine... all fail to fix my problem! Any suggestions would be appreciated! Even if you've never had the need to use a scaling of 200%, I'd appreciate it if you could at least verify this problem exists...
