How to see All my hard disk from inside VM

I installed VMware Professional and than install ubuntu 12.04 inside the VM.

1.

First question is how do I see my hard disk ("C") from inside the VM.

All I seem to be able to see in the folders section is my home and my CD/DVD.

2.

Second

I can login to my work network using terminal and ssh.

what I don't seem to be able to do is see the network from the folders.
