Dear Users,
I have searched on the internet about how to clone/copy a Virtual Machine while its running with some sort of task scheduler to a different datastore.
This task must be done every day and the copy of the virtual machine may be overwritten.
But I couldn't find exactly how to manage this without the powercli. But since my knowledge of powercli is like zero I was wondering if there are any other options that can suit my wish to make this working.
The reason is we have a server which is extremely important to our environment, but any change can make the server crash.
And when I have a copy ready in the datastore I can shutdown the old broken one and add the copy to get as fast if possible up and running again.
I hope anyone could share his/her thoughts how to manage this?
I know I'm not a VMware expert but always eager to learn new things.
Short explanation:
ServerA on Lun1
Most be copied to Lun2
While ServerA is running
The task will make ServerB in Lun2
This process most be done everyday and delete the older version of the copy
