Hi,
usually I work on a Mac with VMware Fusion. My external HD is a FireWire 800 formatted with exFAT, where the VMs reside.
With Fusion on Mac OS I have no problem, but when I am using this same HD and the same VMs on a Windows 8 with Workstation 9.0.2 than I get an error:
"Could not open virtual machine F:\path\to\vmx A serious error occured when accessing this virtual machine: Input/output error".
The funny thing is that otherwise that exFAT volume works without problems, AND that when I first tried it could open a VM and start it, getting the I/O-error in the middle of execution(boot). After that happend once I cannot open any VM (I have over 10) from that Volume.
Anything I can do? I don't want to use NTFS for the obvious reason that it won't work well with Mac OS, and can't use HFS for Windows doesn't like that. So exFAT seemed like the obvious choice here.
Any idea?
All the best,
thomas
Edit: When I copy a VM onto the local C: drive of the Windows Machine, it works like a charm, so it has to be something with the external volume.
