Upgrade from Vcenter 5.0 u1 to 6.0 fails at export (InvSvc URL appears to be wrong)

Hey guys, stumped on this one.  Tried to upgrade from 5.0 update 1 to 6.0 last night, which shows as a supported upgrade.  I'm running SQL 2008 R2 SP1, which is supported for both.  It gets to the export and fails with an error about unable to export PBM, but I think that's irrelevant.  I think the issue lies in the export log:

It looks like it thinks the URL for the inventory service is my domain, with no hostname in front of it (domain named changed for the forums).  The PBM backup just appears to be the first thing it tries to backup, which immediately fails because it can't connect at that invalid URL.  I can't seem to find where this is defined.

I work for an MSP, and there are 5 View environments running View 6.0 (recently upgraded) that connect to this Vcenter server, so scrapping it isn't really an option.

I of course thought about an interim upgrade, but from all I have read people say 5.0 to 6.0 should be easy, because it's pre SSO.

PS - After posting this I thought about one more thing that is worth noting.  Our domain predates me (we have actually since replaced it with another domain for all other functions), and is extremely long, 20 characters before the .local.  We have to cut it off in a lot of places when using it.
