Hello,
We are planning a major upgrade of our infra by replacing all "old" servers. The new ones will be fitted with 4 10Gb ports, and 2 1Gb ports.
For the moment, we keep our 1Gb switches but they will be upgraded probably by end of the year.
so I' m thinking of redesigning our current vss and vds. For the moment we have one VSS per host with management and vmotion and 2 VDS: one for NFS access and one for VM data with on port group per VLAN.
I was thinking of this new setup based on two VDS:
Considering a 10Gb switch upgrade, does this scenario looks viable ? Management will always be on 1Gb links, and when migrating to 10Gb switches vMotion and VM network will inherit the 10Gb speed as well as storage.
Any optimisations considering everything will be 1Gb to start with ?
On the NFS port group, I was thinking of enabling the IP Hash, knowing we have several NFS exports so IP balancing could work. Looks reasonable ?
Thanks.
Vincent, happy to make my firt post on VMTN
