I have installed ESXi 5.1.0 on VMware workstation, and interfaced the vsphere client's management interface. This is all on
Windows 7 laptop. I am now trying to install an image of VMware vCenter Server appliance using the vsphere client. But I
get an error stating: The disk capacity specified is greater than the amount available on the datastore. Click Cancel to
return Where is the disk capacity value coming from? How is it determined? I tried changing the size of the datastore
but I still get the same error. I am just doing this with what I have at home, and I am new to VMware technology.
I found this KB: http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=1003565
And it seems to imply the block size may be an issue. My ESXi's datastore block size is set to 1MB which should support up
to 256GB. I can not imagine I need more space.
On a different note, would you please tell me how I can post to a couple of groups? What is the policy on that?
