Visual Studio 2010 Live Debugging

Hi,

I'm trying to use VMware live debugging in my guest OS and I am having problems. For starters my setup is WIndows 7 host OS on a corporate domain and my guest OS is WIndows 7 in a workgroup. (Can't join the guest OS to the domain.)

Whenever I try to debug by attaching to a process running on the guest (this is the only way I need to debug) I get an error stating that:

The Visual Studio Debugger failed to access the list of running processes in the virtual machine. Please verify the following:

  1. You are logged in as the same user with the same password on the same domain in the host and guest.
  2. All firewalls have been turned off.
  3. A remote debug omnitor matching the name specified in the configuration has started in the guest.
  4. The computer name of the guest is unique in the network.

For further information, please refer to the section on setting up the environment in the Help Document.

Try Again?

THis is very strange to me because I already selected the process in the guest OS form a list in the host OS. It also has me quite concerned that this may not work at all because of #1 in the list. I specifically guided my team to move to VMware form MS Virtual PC because of the live debugging capability. If it is limited to having the host and guest OS in the same domain it is completely useless to me.

I am also very confused because there is a setting in the VMware options menu item that is added to Visual Studio to configure login credentials for the guest OS. Well, I think I remember setting those when I started up the first time, but now I cannot get in to change those credentials. Whenever I click on the "..." button nothing happens.

I'm REALLY hoping someone here can help me out so that I can get thos working!

Thanks in advance!
