No connectivity on VMware Player - Bridged or NAT

I have a Windows 7 guest running on VMware Player 5.0.2 build-1031769 on a Windows Home Server (based on Windows Server 2008 R2) host.

I have been trying for several hours today to get networking running in either Bridged or NAT mode. In both modes, the guest network adapter shows physically connected but no internet connectivity. I have tried with DHCP and static IPs in both modes, with static IP I can get a response by pinging known IP addresses, but cannot resolve any host names or open any web pages by hostname or IP address.

The host has a single Nvidia nForce NIC, no other network adapters listed, and has no connectivity problems. I have uninstalled and reinstalled VMware and rebooted, and checked that the VMware DHCP and NAT services are running.

I have tried using the Virtual Network Editor to change the settings, reset the VMware network settings to default, etc and no joy so far. I have uninstalled VirtualBox which may have previously been interfering with the adapter settings, now there is only the Nvidia adapter showing.

Does anyone have any other ideas on how to fix this? Thanks!
