Hi All,
So we have a very old Isolated test virtual environment that we use to test production servers in.
The hardware is old and we can't take it any higher than 4.0 or 4.1. The host servers are DL385 G1s.
we're aware of the crappiness of it all, but we just plan to run it to the ground before we spend $ to upgrade that isolated test environment.
I just want to bounce some questions to you guys to ensure that I"m not missing a step in the process:
- Backup my 2.0.1 SQL database
- Power down all the Guess VMs and bring the ESX 3.0.1 hosts into maintenance mode.
- pop the Vsphere 4.0 CD in and upgrade Vcenter to 4.0
- This part I'm worried about: will Vcenter 4.0 be able to upgrade gracefully from 2.0.1?
- Pop the HP Branded ISO for ESXI 4.0 into each host and upgrade.
- Ensure that the SAN drivers installed correctly and that the Host can see the datastores.
- In the event the Guess VMs get disconnected, re-add them to inventory after the ugprade
- Done
Am I missing anything?
